The Singapore Petrochemical Complex logo was the first logo I won in 1996. As the activities of the companies in evolve around gases and petrochemicals, therefore it needs a logo that well represent these activities and also the companies’ aims, goals ad vision for the future. My logo comprises of half an ethylene molecule emerging from two ripples. The ethylene molecules are the basic building blocks of most petrochemical products, thus it can well signify the different petrochemical products produced in the petrochemical complex.
On the other hand, the two ripples not only signify the fast growing pace of the companies and industry, but more importantly it signifies the fact that SPC is going regional. Its growing in the Southeast Asia region and beyond , just like the water ripples, expanding every second. It also gives the logo a more stable look. Since more companies might be joining the complex, therefore the expanding of the ripples also represent the of the complex in terms of the number of companies. As Singapore is the first country in the ASEAN region to have this petrochemical complex, therefore she is just like the ethylene molecule in my logo, rising above the surrounding. The ethylene molecule in my logo gives viewer a feeling that it is surrounded by water ripples, similarly our country Singapore is also an island surrounded by water.
Blue color is my
choice for the logo because the color blue is usually associated with clarity
and cleanliness. Having a blue logo will therefore gives the companies
a clean and clear image to the public. It will relate to the public that
the companies in the complex are environmentally
friendly and thus gaining their thrust and confident. Blue is also a very
strong color, it can well portray the strength
and stability of the companies.
Lastly, to give the logo a modern and sophisticated
look, it is tilted at an angle and also tones of blue color were used.

I came in second in this logo design competition in 1997. The main mission of the ETI is to spearhead Environmental Technology(ET), Research and Development(R&D) in Singapore. My logo is made up of two globe-like shapes with the letters ‘ETI’ inscribed in it.
As the color blue is a very strong, vibrant and sophisticated color, therefore the blue globe in my logo represents the world of advance and sophisticated . As for our environment, I decided to represent it with a white globe. White is often seen as clean and clear, just as what we want our environment to be, both clean and clear. In my logo, the two globes harmoniously join forming the letter ‘T’ in the middle. The joining of the globes signifies the harmony between technology, environment and industry. Another way to look at how my logo depicts the harmony between technology and environment is the fact that the letter ’E’(Environment) is inscribed in the blue (Technology) globe.
The letter ‘I’ in my logo can also be seen as a human-like figure, the inclusion of this is firstly to break the regular shape of my logo, giving it a more flexible image. Secondly, human beings are also part of the environment, and technologies also affect human race. The letter ‘I’ is in a solid deep blue color, this is so because ‘I’ representing ‘Institute’, is responsible to carry out R&D. The deep blue ‘I’ signifies that the Institute has a very solid, reliable and strong foundation in the R&D field. Graduating tones were used in the blue globe so as to give my logo a more modern and sophisticated look.
Lastly, notice that the alphabets are slanting , this signifies the spirit and vitality of the ETI to move forward and achieve better results in the future.

I was honored to be asked by the academy to take part in the New Paper's Page one design contest. The contest requires participants to design a mock-up page one of the New Paper during the fall of Singapore in World War II. I made used of three pictures to depict the arrival of the Japanese army, the surrender of the British soldiers and the cries and sufferings of Singaporeans during the war. I did not win the contest, but it leaded me to a job with the New Paper as a temporary artist for their online New Paper.

The City Cab Operators’ Association wanted a logo that resemmble the original City Cab logo, but yet have their own unique meanings and style. Since the organisation is form by the taxi operators to improve the welfare and interests of taxi operators, its is important that the members work together in unity and harmony. The logo is basically a circle with the original City Cab logo incorporated in it, the circle signify the strength, unity and togetherness of the members working together. The original logo was incorporated by the side of the circle to break the regular shape of the circle, giving it a more sophisticated look. The incorporation of the original logo also help to give viewers an ideal that the new logo is related to its parent company, City Cab.
The word "Operators’ Association" is in italic so as to give the overall logo a feeling of "moving forward". This "moving forward" look signify the members of the CCOA working forward towards their aims and goals. Lastly, to give the logo a modern feeling, two gradual tones of blue was used for the logo. The gradual toning of the logo also enhances the "moving forward" feeling of the logo.
