Lift left toes up slightly, slide the left heel (on floor) forward. Push the body forward using a heel to toe push on the right foot and transfer weight onto left foot. The left foot slides forward due to heel to toe push on right foot. Note : The dance starts from the hip movement, not leg or foot movement Leg movement does not provide any signal from guy to girl and often results in the girl not moving her foot away to provide space for the guy's foot. (Collision/Accident!) A2 In the momentum of transferring weight, Pull in right leg straight forward (knees lightly brushing each other) Body rise vertically a little. Sway upper body to the left and push the right foot to the right. Right knee is straight and relaxed with right toes sliding on the floor. Right foot slides across the floor due to push on the left leg. Swaying the body allows for balance in this movement Shift weight onto right foot and lift the body up by rising on the right foot to stand on the ball and toes. Complete the weight transfer to come to a vertical body. A3 Pull in left foot while keeping left knee straight and relaxed. Only left toes are dragged on the floor. Left foot meets right foot with heels off the floor. End with standing on ball and toes of both feet. In the following step of 1, lower body (from standing on both toes) into a flat left foot and weight of left foot. Right foot will slide out (forward or backwards) with knee sliding to the floor action. Backwards Right (Straight) ========================== B1 Start with a lowering of body, allowing the left knee to slide forward and right knee to slide backwards. Lift the right heels off the ground, slide the right toes back. In this movement, the right foot is very close to a perpendicular to the floor. Push the body backwards using a toe to heel push on the left foot and transfer weight onto right foot. Note : right foot slides backwards due to toe to heel push on left foot. B2 At the end of step 1, left foot will be on toes. In the momentum of transferring weight, Pull in left leg straight backwards (knees lightly brushing each other) Since left foot on toes, slide left foot with only toes on ground. Body rise vertically a little. Sway upper body to the left and push the right foot to the right. Right knee is straight and relaxed with right toes sliding on the floor. Forward Left Turn ================= A1 TURN UPPER BODY 45 degrees to the left while lowering body and allowing the knees to slide forward. Lift left toes up slightly, slide the left foot DIRECTLY forward. Push the body forward using a heel to toe push on the right foot and transfer weight onto left foot. Note : left foot slides forward due to heel to toe push on right foot. A2 In the momentum of transferring weight, Pull in right leg STRAIGHT forward (knees lightly brushing each other) right leg CONTINUES STRAIGHT forward (Do not make the common mistake of having a curve path for right foot) Body continues to turn and face west, body rise vertically a little. Push the right foot to the right (north). Right knee is straight and relaxed with right toes sliding on the floor. Right foot slides across the floor due to push on the left leg. Near end of the slide, anchor the toes to the floor while the slide continues with the heel moving slightly further. End slide with foot facing 45 degrees to the left (pointing SW) Shift weight onto right foot and lift the body up by rising on the right foot to stand on the ball and toes. Complete the weight transfer to come to a vertical body facing SW. A3 Pull in left foot while keeping left knee straight and relaxed. Only left toes are dragged on the floor. Left foot meets right foot with heels off the floor. End with standing on ball and toes of both feet. In the following step, lower body (from standing on both toes) to a flat left foot and weight on left foot. Right foot will slide out (forward or backwards) with knee sliding to the floor action. Backward Left Turn ================== B1 TURN UPPER BODY 45 degrees to the left while lowering body and allowing the right knee to slide backwards. Lift the right heels off the ground, slide the right toes back. In this movement, the right foot is very close to a perpendicular to the floor. Push the right foot DIRECTLY backwards. Push the body forward using a heel to toe push on the right foot and transfer weight onto left foot. Note : left foot slides forward due to heel to toe push on right foot. End this step with right foot turned (on ball of foot) to the left 45 degrees. B2 In the momentum of transferring weight, Pull in right leg STRAIGHT back (knees lightly brushing each other) right leg CONTINUES STRAIGHT back (Do not make the common mistake of having a curve path for right foot) Body continues to turn and face, body rise vertically a little. Push the left foot to the left (north). Left knee is straight and relaxed with left toes sliding on the floor. left foot slides across the floor due to push on the right leg. End slide with foot facing 45 degrees to the left (pointing XX) Shift weight onto left foot and lift the body up by rising on the left foot to stand on the ball and toes. Complete the weight transfer to come to a vertical body facing XX. B3 Pull in right foot while keeping right knee straight and relaxed. Only right toes are dragged on the floor. Right foot meets left foot with heels off the floor. End with standing on ball and toes of both feet. In the following step, lower body (from standing on both toes) to a flat right foot and weight on right foot. Left foot will slide out (forward or backwards) with knee sliding to the floor action. Any attempt to rise early with the feet or body would impede the flow of movement. the rise must be gradual and felt throughtout the turns, the full extent of the rise not being reached until the feet are closed on the third step. No Foot Rise : Foot supporting the weight of the body is kept flat when a BODY rise is used. Collision avoidance ! ===================== walk forward and back Eg: Boom : step forward and shift weight forward Cha : step forward and shift weight forward Cha : no foot work but shift weight back Boom : step backwards and shift weight back Cha : step backwards and shift weight back Cha : no foot work but shift weight forward
