Background
Singapore Buddhist Welfare Services (SBWS) was set up
in 1981. It is an independent non-profit organisation dedicated to championing
the cause of the poor, needy, the elderly and sick regardless of race or
religion. Its mission is to provide moral and financial assistance to the
needy and distressed; and to increase public awareness and understanding
of the importance of community service.
Our Programmes
In the spirit of Lord Buddha's great compassion in the relief of all suffering, as well as to repay the deep kindness of the Triple Gem and all living beings, we provide multiple services through the following subsidiaries, such as medical treatment and healthcare, nursing care, life and moral education, cultural exchange, volunteer services, etc:

Green Haven
(Halfway House to Help Drug

Green Haven is the only Buddhist halfway house catering to Buddhist ex-drug
addicts.
Besides providing accommodation, drug rehabilitation programmes,
spiritual and vocational training to ex-drug addicts, residential programmes such
as
counseling, group work, vocational placement, workshops, religious, culture, and
recreational activities are also conducted.
After the completion of the treatment programme spanning a year,
the graduates are invited back for weekly evening meetings, relapse prevention
training,
family counseling, individuals counseling and self help group meeting.

The Centre was set up in 1985. The children admitted are between
2 to 6 years old and divided into playgroup, nursery, K1 and K2.
Children are taught in a bilingual environment - English and Chinese.
One outstanding feature of the Centre is its strict adherence to a
vegetarian diet specially prepared in consultation with the
professional dietitian and approved by the Ministry.
Hearty Care Centre
(Family Life Education & Counselling, Before & After School

The Centre was opened in 1994 to identify and meet
social needs, prevent social problems from developing,
in order to enhance neighborliness and community living.
Another important role it plays is to assist individuals and groups with
difficulties,
so as to enhance family tie and uphold the family as a basic unit in society.
Hearty Care Centre is both an educational centre and counseling centre.
As an educational centre, it provides before and after school care and tuition.
As a counseling centre, counseling session, talks and seminars on
emotional, martial, family, children behavior issues are look into.
Other services include free health screening and free legal advise.

Bright Vision Hospital was the last will of
late Venerable Yen Pei that we are on the way to fulfill.
The Hospital has 302 inpatient beds for subacute care,
rehabilitation care, long term care, respite care and palliative care.

Happy Villa
(Community Home for the

Happy Villa was set up embracing the concept of sheltered housing.
The residents from the lower income group are referred to the home by the
Ministry of Community Development and Sports (MCDS) and the
Community Development Council (CDC).
Happy Villa serves as a centre to organise and provide activities,
physiotherapy,
medical checkups, meals and games for the poor and less fortunate elderly.
It is opened free of charge to the female citizen, 60 and above who are
mentally and physically fit. The drop-in centre also welcomes
public and senior citizens from the community to interact with the residents.
SBWS - NKF Kidney Dialysis
Centre
(Subsidized Treatment for Renal Disease Patients) since

Set up in 1991, the Centre boasts of 23 dialysis stations and has a
patient capacity of 136 per day. Patients belonging to the lower income
bracket were subsidised and offered financial assistance.
In addition, we also provide services such as counseling and work replacements.

The Grace Volunteer Centre was proposed by our late Venerable Yen Pei
to provide training, launch and development of volunteerism.
The 8-storey building will be named as Yen Pei Building.

moral education based on Buddhism, community welfare services and
