| _____________________________________________________________________ Don't become a victim of a criminal There are so many
evil people lurking on chat rooms, IRC, ICQ, forums and
other places, with the ability to create a new identity
for themselves, Password stealers If someone asks for your password via e-mail or telephone, be very careful. For example, a person named Bob may call you up and say, "Sir, our ISP is currently having some technical problems. Can we have your user id and password just in case the server breaks down?" All these are nonsense and should be avoided. If the ISP has 500,000 users. I suppose the technical support personnel will have to make 500,000 calls to collect IDs and passwords. ISPs would not do that. So always treat people with extreme caution when they asked for passwords. Call up the ISP personally and try to speak to a senior manager or director about the incident. Chatroom Dangers There are a lot of suckers out there in chatrooms just out for pure fun and sex. It is best not to reveal your true name, age, gender and other personal information such as contact nos. Once given out, you cannot retrieve them. |
