Tamil is the one of the ancient languages like Chinese and English. From Tamil literature we can understand that ancient Tamils led a well civilized life well ahead of the Greek Civilization itself.From the history, we can understand that during Chola period, they were highly intellect,brave and rich. They were good in international trade,ship & harbour construction,building architect too. Even we can see Indonesians named Indira, Chandra which were Tamil names. The reason may be as Cholas had invaded Indonesia in those days....................................
But, later during English period, Englishmen found
that Tamil people are kind hearted and they were very loyal and hard workers too. So, they haven't used Tamil people for wars even though they were very brave and strong. Instead they brought lot of poor Tamil people to Malaysia,Singapore,Mauritius as labourers.
After the WWII, the people had settled here as Malaysian citizens. And then after Singapore's separation from Malaysia, these people became the citizen of Singapore and then worked for Singapores development................. As the Tamil people were not aware of Technology & Education by that time, we can see Tamil people were still doing labour jobs,running very small shops,food-stall, and non-knowlege based business only.
