Itinerary - 1 (a) Mandalay / Bagan
Thursday - Departure 12.00 noon. Soon after departure, lunch will be served. The boat will pass under the Ava Bridge and Menu monastery at Ava will be seen on your left. Will pass Myinmu at 5:00 p.m and will proceed to Shwe pauk pin or Nay pu gon for a night halt.
Friday - Boat departure at 5:30 a.m. to arrive Yan da bo at 07:00hr. Will go ashore to see pottery works in the village. Depart at 09:00 am to arrive Pokokku at 1:00 pm. Will stop for 2 hrs for sight seeing at Pokokku. Depart latest by 3:30 p.m. Will arrive Bagan at about 5:30 p.m. And the boat is docked right in the middle of the archeological zone.
Saturday - Disembark after breakfast.
Itinerary 1. (b). Bagan / Mandalay
Sunday - Departure 7:oo a.m. The boat will pass Shwesigon Pagoda, Nyaung Oo and will arrive Pokokku at 10:30 hrs. This is a prosperous river town with bustling markets and active Buddhist pagodas and monasteries. Two hours will be given to tour the town by trishaw, horse cart or by local tour organization and join the boat at Shwe tan tit during low water season. Lunch will be served when every body is onboard. The boat continues upstream, pass the breathtaking confluence of the Irrawaddy and its tributary the Chindwin. Here, the river is so wide in the monsoon, the opposite banks cannot be seen and in the summer, it turns onto a desert dissected by narrow and barely navigable channel. The boat will stop for the night at a little village call Yandabo and can see a true Burmese village life and pottery works.
Monday - Departure 5:30 a.m. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. No stop is planned on this day except to drop some passenger at Myinmu for sight seeing at Monywa. Will arrive Shwe kyet yet at about 5:00pm, which is directly across the Sagaing, hills studded with impressive hill top pagodas. Passengers may disembark on arrival at Shwe kyet yet or can stay onboard for the night and check out after breakfast on Tuesday morning.
Itinerary Mandalay /
Bhamo / Mandalay / Bagan (11 days)
Day 1. Arrive Mandalay at 08:30hrs.Baggage will be sent to the boat. Visit the Ma ha mu ni pagoda, woodcarvings works, Shwe Kyaung and check in and lunch on board the Princess. After lunch visit Palace, Mandalay hill and return to boat for departure to Mingun at 16:00hrs. ETA Mingun 17:00hrs and visit the world biggest working bell and an unfinished pagoda built by a megalomanical king. Night at Mingun.
Day 2 Depart 05:30hrs to arrive Kyauk myaung at 13:30hrs.South of Kyauk myaung there is a chain of villages that specialize in manufacture of glazed pots the largest will hold 60 gallons. These glazed pots are used all over the country and are made only from this area. After visiting the pottery work will sail at 17:00 hrs. From here start the third Defile where the river is only about 800 ft wide and deep. We will sail through the defile, which is about 35miles, and stop for the night at Ma Lea.
Day 3. Depart at 05:30hrs to arrive Tagaung at 13:00hrs. Tagaung is an ancient capital that date back to (5th-8th century AD) and only part of the city wall remains. Will visit the town for one and a half hour and depart at 14:30hrs and to arrive Htigyike at 18:30hrs for night stop. Htigyike is a trading town and is accessible by road to Mandalay / Myitkyina highway.
Day 4. Depart 05:30hrs to arrive Inywa at 09:30hrs.It is a village with very old solidly built wooden houses. Will stop for 1 hour and proceed at 10:30hrs to arrive Katha at 14:30hrs.Katha is the largest town on the river between Mandalay and Bhamo and is the administrative center of the upper Sagaing division. It is also connected by road and rail to Mandalay / Myit kyi na rail road and highway. After 3 hours visit at Katha will depart at 17:30hrs for night stop at Kyauk tone gyi village..
Day 5. Depart at 05:30hrs to arrive Shwegu at 12:30hrs.Shwegu is a big village between Katha and Bhamo and will stop for one hour. Depart at 13:30hrs to arrive Sinn kan at 17:30hrs. This stretch of 20 miles between Shwegu and Sinn kan is the second Defile of the Irrawaddy river If the river is navigable will proceed to Bhamo..
Day 6.Visit Bhamo till 1500hrs.Bhamo is approximately 1000 miles up the river from sea and it is the northern most navigable point. It is only 30 miles from Chinese border and is a trading post for Chinese goods. Mule train has been used before but a container port is built at Sinn kan for Chinese export outlet via the Irrawaddy river. Depart at 15:30hrs for a night stop at Shwe gu..
Day 7. Depart at 05:30hrs for a brief stop at Kyet ta gaung and will stop for the night at Kya hnyat .It is a prosperous village with many monasteries.
Day 8. Depart at 05:30 hrs and will arrive Ah nya Thi ha taw a pagoda on an island at 12:30hrs.Will depart at 14:00hrs to arrive Saging at 18:00hrs.
Day 9.Visit Ava and Saging in the morning and return to boat at 12:00hrs.Depart Sagaing to arrive Yandabo at 17:30hrs. The whole village makes water pots. Visit the pottery works and will night stop here..
Day 10.Depart at 05:30hrs to arrive Pokokku at 10:00 hrs and sight seeing till 13:00 hrs. Lunch onboard and proceed to arrive Bagan at 16:00 hrs. Tour Bagan on bus and watch sunset from the boat..
Day 11. Visit Bagan area. Bagan is the richest archaeological sites with over 2000 temples in Asia. Will visit diverse selection of important pagodas and temples dating from 11th century. Shwezigon built in 11th century, Ananda temple with 4 huge standing Buddha images, Sulamani temple, the largest in Bagan. Manuha temple in the Mon style, Thatbyinnyu temple and lacquer ware making shop.
