Preparation & Plans for our Engagement

The wait was finally over as we are preparing and planning for our engagement which would likely take place early next year in 2001.

My parents held no objections when I brought up the topic that I would want to be engaged with Susanna before year-end of 2000. Susanna had told me that year end of 2000 would be a very busy time for her parents and would rather have the engagement dinner, between the 2 families, after Chinese New Year 2001.

In Indonesia, there is no such occasion as an engagement dinner or notice. They go straight to the point and that means, no engagement just wedding!

After the engagement dinner, Susanna would have to be in Singapore for the next 3 months to undergo the training and counseling to be held by the church before the actual day of the wedding in which we intend to have it on the 20^th February 2002! J

The counseling session being prepared by the church is to let newlyweds know the importance of marriage life in the eyes of God and also to lead a Holy life. Learning to respect one another and listening to one another is another key issue to a good and long lasting relationship between husband and wife.

I can safely say that both of us are having quite a headache now on the engagement and have to plan it properly. As for the wedding dinner and others, we have decided that there would have to be 2 separate dinners or celebrations to be held separately. Hosting one in Medan and the other here in Singapore is a definite must.

And for the honeymoon part after the wedding dinner in Singapore, we have tentatively decided to have it in New Zealand.

Now I would need to ask of you all a favor, please keep us in your prayers and ask God for His Holy Guidance and Wisdom as we are preparing for our Big Day! Thanks! J
