TAXATION SERVICES

Our taxation services for corporate and individual clients comprise both Tax Compliance and Tax Advice.

Tax Compliance

Tax compliance involves the preparation of income tax computations, where necessary, and the relevant income tax returns (Forms B1, C, etc.) for submission to the Tax Authority.

Unless an extension of time to file an income tax return has been granted by the Tax Comptroller, the deadline for filing the income tax return is generally 15 April for an individual taxpayer (for income earned in the preceding calendar year) and 31 July for a corporate taxpayer (for income earned in its preceding financial year). Failure to meet these deadlines may result in assessments raised based on estimates and / or the imposition of penalties.

In addition to income tax compliance, we also provide compliance services for Goods & Services Tax ("GST").

Tax Advice

Tax advice for Corporate taxpayers

Tax planning plays an increasingly important role and becomes an integral part of the business decision-making process as a company's operations grow in size and complexity, e.g. where a company expands its operations overseas. This is necessary in order to optimise the company's cash flow to meet its needs and liabilities as and when they fall due, as well as minimise its income tax liability and exposure to different tax jurisdictions.

In addition, we also provide tax advice on issues such as withholding tax, GST and stamp duty and advising on tax-efficient group structures in the restructuring of a group of companies.

Tax incentives

Our tax planning services also include advising a company on the various types of tax incentives available (which, if awarded, may allow its qualifying income to be exempt from tax or subject to tax at concessionary tax rates for a specified period) as well as the general requirements to be met before a particular tax incentive may be awarded.

We also aid companies which have decided to apply for tax incentives to submit applications to the relevant authorities. Upon the award of a tax incentive, Ace Tax Consulting will assist in conducting periodic reviews, at the company's request, to ensure that the conditions of the award are met or if otherwise, help the company in its negotiations with the relevant authorities for a revision of the conditions, where necessary.

Tax advice for Individual taxpayers

For individual taxpayers, particularly expatriates and individuals seeking to minimise their income tax exposure and liability, income tax advice involves, inter alia, examining the role the taxpayer plays in his employment and structuring tax-efficient employment contracts. This is particularly important as there are a number of bases of taxation (e.g. "Not-Ordinarily Resident", area representative, etc.) to be considered in order to determine which is appropriate for an individual, having regards to the circumstances of his employment.
