Education courses are stored on an in-company or hosted server, with Intranet and/or Internet access. Participants are signed up for the available courses, and begin to work on the materials, usually as a group. A subject matter expert is available to the group as they progress through the syllabus, and he/she provides active coaching, leadership and encouragement.

Participants take regular tests and quizzes in order for the Coach to monitor their individual progress, and take action when necessary. The Coach can set new material, or require the participants to form virtual teams to work on case studies or special projects.
