Useful Sites in Singapore
Listed below are sites that I have found to be helpful or interesting. It would be useful for all those in Singapore whoare looking for a practical aspect to the Internet. For my Singaporean friends overseas, I hope this page can bring some familiarity close to you.
Government
Department of Satistics Singapore statistics at your fingertips. Check claims made by others, CPI etc.
Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) This site should be in season around March every year.
MITA PressReleases of the Governent of Singapore. An information service by MITA.
Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) The Mindef Notification Centre (MNC) page will probably be useful only when you don't know the country code and don't want to listen to the list over the phone. Ifyou do know, calling 1800-274-7777 saves you on your phone charges, Internet bandwidth and Internet charges (if any).
Advice: Request for acknowledgement through mail. I think havingit on paper is most secure. Of course, you would need to give them timeto reply.
Singapore Immigration Passport application by post Forms can be downloaded here if community centresand police posts are beyond your reach. Hmm... aren't the police a phonecall way?
Singapore Telecom If the telephone directory is not within your reach, this will be a good alternative. Partial matches in names can be helpful when you just can't remember that person's surname. Unlike the printed phonebook, new subscribers are constantly added into this database.
Note: Prior Registration required. Allow one day to process.
Internet Service Providers The list is exhuastive.
Cyberway The cheapestsubscriptions I heard.
Pacific Internet Variety of offers, contests, etc. Some intented for subscribers only.
Singnet Good suggestions and good resources on how to start doing up a homepage
NB. Singapore Infomap gives an almostcomplete list of sites (government and corporate) available in Singapore
