... My son did not cherish his life. He created trouble everywhere. Although
he was sent to drug rehabilitation centres and jail many times, he
could not change. Everyone in the family was worried about him and tried
to persuade him to quit the habit, but it was to no avail. I prayed to so many
different idols and I tried all ways and means to help him. I was sad and disappointed,
and I cried for him often.
His father left us when he was only two. In order to bring him up, I went
through a lot of suffering and I had hoped he would understand my hardship.
However, he disappointed me. At times I felt like ending my life. I was
tired, helpless and worse, I felt I had failed as a mother.
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old
things are passed away: behold, all things are become new."
(II Corinthians 5:17)
In 1989, I read in the newspaper the life-changing story of brother
Simon and about Breakthrough. This news brought me new hope as I realised
the possibility of ridding drug addiction.
I then arranged to send my son to Breakthrough Missions. There he accepted
Christ and his life was changed. After his rehabilitation programme, he
decided to serve in Breakthrough. I felt happy and I found new hope after he accepted
Christ. I do not wish for anything more so long as my children can be
happy. I attended a gospel rally at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in 1991
and accepted Christ as my personal Saviour too.
Praise and glory to the Lord. May He bless those who believe in Him.
