LEAD-FRAME INDEXER
- The lead-frame indexer is a sub-unit of any machine that requires
material feeding. This case, indexer is viewed as a lead-frame handler.
There are pins on the indexer. These pins go into the holes of the lead-frame.
- The pins are secure to a motorised housing which allows movement in
forward-backward direction.
- There are 1 light sensor & 2 touch sensors that act as positional
feedback to the RCX. The up-down & front-back movement is controlled by
2 LEGO DC motor respectively.
- This pic shows the motorised housing for the up-down mechanism assembly.
- The mechanism is a rack gear pinion type ie rotary motion from the motor converted to
linear motion by the rack gear.
- This pic shows the motorised housing for the front-back mechanism assembly.
- The mechanism is also a rack gear pinion type.
