Description

The Giant Trevally is the biggest and most stout built of the trevallys.They have sharp teeth,strong jaws,sharp scales on its side towards its back and a steep forehead.Their colour ranges from blue to green to black.

Size

They can be caught from sizes from a baby 1kg to a brute of 50kgs or more.Monsters of 70kgs or more are sometimes caught,especially in hawaiian waters.

Habits

When small,'GT''s travel in large schools but once they grow bigger, they form smaller schools.Usually,the larger they are,the more chance that they are solitary.Their common food are crabs,prawns,octupus and squid.

Baits like fish flesh,live baits,whole dead fish and squid can be used.Lures like popper's,minnows,plugs,spoons,jigs can be trolled or used by the cast and retrieve method.The 'GT''s can really give reels a workout so tackle needs to be in good order to wishtand the powerful fish. |

They are very good eating fish and its flesh is firm,white and a bit dry but mainly bone free. This fish can be used for curry etc. |
