Hi. I am the tutor
in charge here.
The Light Bulb Effect was discovered during my secondary
school days. I was very passionate in learning until my passion
was killed by the intensive learning system here. My grades
fall from average of A2s and B3s to C5s and C6s.
As my grades fall further, my interest in my studies also
fall. I feel that there is no point in studying anymore because
my grades are never going to be improved.
During my Sec 3 days, I got challenged by a teacher that
I will definitely fail my Additional Maths. In fact, I have
never passed any of my A-Maths test before. However, deep
in my heart, I said to myself: 'How difficult can it be?'
I forced myself to study the textbook. During those days,
all students copy notes from the teacher and did not use the
textbook at all. I am the only one in class who literally
study the textbook.
As I study the textbook, I realised that A-Maths can be very
interesting. It is far from differentiation and integration.
It is far from just numbers.
Shortly after I found my passion for A-Maths, I forced myself
to read the Physics textbook as well. I realised that Physics
can be studied together with A-Maths. The topic is called
Particle Physics. My passion for learning grows wider and
wider. Even my friends were surprised at my sudden improvement
in results.
I took my 'O' levels with this new found passion. My results
are as below:
English: B3
Physics: A1
Chemistry: A1
A-Maths: A1
E-Maths: A1
Chinese: A2
Geography: B4
(I can show you my certificate during my first lesson with
your child.)
The increase in study effectiveness is dramatic. And being
someone who has gone through the route, I believe that I can
do some help to re-establish your child's interest in learning.
