SuperMemo Manual
Chapter 2.6

Using the SuperMemo Software:
Item Details

This chapter explains the Item Details screen. This screen shows several values about the selected item and allows you to reset or delete the item as well. The Item Details screen can be invoked by tapping the icon on the left of the selected item in the Item List screen.

There are three sections in this chapter:

*   Details about the selected item

When you tap an icon of any item in the Item List view, you will see a screen with details about the selected item. The screen has eight lines of information:
  1. The first line shows you the previous (first number) and the current (second number) Difficulty of the item. The difficulty value is always between 0 and 100 percent. The higher number the more difficult the item is for you. When you commit a brand new item, it will be assigned an initial difficulty of 40 %.

  2. The second line displays the previous (first number) and the current (second number) Interval between item occurrences in tests. The value is shown in days. The current interval value is equal to a date difference of lines 5 and 6.

  3. The next line shows the number of item Recalls in tests, as opposed to the number of lapses shown on the next line.

  4. On this line you can see the number of item Lapses in tests. Recalls and lapses together are equal to the total number of repetitions, i.e. the number of occurrences in tests so far.

  5. The date of the Next Test of the item is shown on the fifth line. The number in round brackets shows how many days remain to that day. In our example, the item will be tested again in 25 days.

  6. The next line shows the date of the Last Test of the item. The number in round brackets shows how many days ago it was. In our example, the item was last tested 8 days ago. The difference between the next and the last test date is shown on line 2.

  7. This line shows the date on which the item was Committed to the learning process. Again, the value in round brackets shows you the day difference between the commitment date and this day. In our example, the item was committed 165 days ago.

  8. The last line shows you the date on which the item was Created. If you are the one who creates the item, you will probably create and commit it on the same day as shown in our example screen.

*   Resetting an item

If you want to reset the selected item, you can tap the Reset button in the Item Details screen. Of course, the Reset button is only visible if the item is committed in the learning process.

Resetting the item will not delete it, it will only clear its stored learning progress data and remove it from the learning process. If you want, you can commit it back to the learning process later.

When you tap the Reset button and confirm your intention, the screen data is updated and the button disappears. The item will also change its icon in the Item List view.
