The red arrowana is considered to be the most exquisite and is definitely the most expensive arrowana. It is very popular among the chinese and is believed to bring prosperity to the owner. It is considered an endangered species and trade of this fish is prohibited, unless it is bred in captivity. But recent captive breeding programs of this fish in the far east, such as Singapore, have enabled the export of the fish to other countries.
