College Represented
There are literally thousands of high schools in the UK. I have chosen to represent only 4 of them for a simple reason. They are tutorial colleges. Such colleges specialise in A-level studies although some of them do have a small junior section to cater for younger students studying for their IGCSE/GCSE and are international in composition, meaning, they have students from all over the world. Each has its own unique character, ethos and strengths but all have excellent facilities, caring teaching staff and strong pastoral care.
Two are full boarding while two provide home-stay in British families. Each type has its strengths and weaknesses. Boarding schools are perceived to be safer as no travel is required but parents must remember that it is also good to let their children learn how to be street smart in a smaller town. Home stay gives students a chance to learn to live with other people and absorb the British culture more fully.
A brief description of each of the 4 colleges follows.
