Concord College (Tutorial, Boarding and Mixed)

Concord College

Concord College is among the top tutorial boarding schools for boys and girls. It is located in the medieval town of Shrewsbury; just over three hours drive from London. It sits on fifty acres of beautiful countryside land and has excellent teaching, recreation and boarding facilities. Most of its 300 students are accommodated in single study bedrooms, with a few in twin- bedded rooms. All rooms are centrally heated, carpeted and have a washbasin. Laundry is done once a week

Founded fifty years ago under an education charity trust, the College has an outstanding track record of getting students into Oxford and Cambridge and other top universities for studies in medicine, law, engineering, accounting and economics. While it emphasizes A-level studies, Concord College also runs a very successful junior school, which takes in students for Form 2 to Form 5, and prepares them for GCSE.

Classes begin at 8.45 am Monday to Friday and end at 4.00 pm. Students are given a break from 4.00 pm to 5.30 pm. From 5.30 pm to 7.00 pm, students are required to go for prep, i.e. supervised self-study. After supper, there is another hour of prep from 8.00 to 9.00 pm. Most Saturday mornings are devoted to weekly tests.

The weekend is spent on recreation and sports. The College has a modern sports complex, music conservatory and an indoor heated swimming pool. On Wednesday and Saturday afternoon, College-hired buses take students to the nearby town of Shrewsbury for shopping or cinema shows.
