Mander, Portman Woodward (MPW), London & Cambridge

MPW is a non-boarding independent college located in South Kensington, London and Cambridge. It accepts students aged 16 and above and offers a two-year and one-year GCSE and A-level courses. It has about 350 A-level and 100 GCSE students. MPW’s method is based on intensive tuition in small groups, close personal monitoring of academic progress and regular exam practice. There is great flexibility, plenty of communications with parents and a strong emphasis on creating a positive atmosphere that is conducive to success.
MPW has a staff of highly qualified tutors, the majority of whom have several years’ teaching experience at MPW. Many are examiners for the subjects that they teach. There are 12 Heads of Department, each running a department of between 3 and ten tutors. The quality of pastoral care provided is outstanding. The College has a strong record of university entrance success. Students receive extensive advice and guidance on university application from directors of studies and heads of departments.
Of particular interest to Singapore and Malaysian students is the very successful one- year A-level retake course starting in September. Students who have not done well in their first attempts have gone on to achieve outstanding results after the one-year re-take course and gone on to good universities to fulfil their ambition.
