During Southern Song Dynasty (AD1127-AD1279), China lost
almost half of its territory to its northern Tartar. After years of wars against
the Jin, the inflation is soaring. In order to get more revenue, 2-cash coins
with reduced weight are minted. 1-cash coins are lesser in this
period. The quality of the coins are also not as good as that of Northern Song
Dynasty.
The coins minted by Liao (AD907 -1125), Jin (AD1115 -1234) Tartar
and Xixia (AD1032-1227) Tangut people are also put under this category as they
co-exist with the Song regime.
