Benchmarking is a synthetic way of testing a computer's performance. Due to its synthetic nature, benchmarks cannot be 100% accurate in determining the performance of real everyday applications. This is especially so with the simpler benchmarking programmes since
processors can be designed specifically to ace them. The Winbench series tries to simulate the applications that the average user runs and this is one of the more accurate programmes.
