Intel 810 (aka. Whitney)

Widely touted as a low cost 440BX chipset and designed for use with the Intel Celeron processor, the Intel 810 core logic chipset features an integrated audio solution as well as a 2D and 3D i740 AGP graphics engine. Although not particularly offering a high level of performance for its time, the integrated audio and video capabilities of the 810,has its advantage in reduced manufacturing costs and, paves the way for Intel to enter the highly contested budget arena.

At present, much about the 810 is still a mystery, but I would speculate that, in direct competition with the SiS 620, the ATA-66 protocol will be supported by the 810.

The Key Features:

  • 100MHz FSB capabilities
  • 100/83/75/66MHz FSB capabilities
  • Up to ???MB SDRAM supported
  • UDMA/33 and ATA/?? protocol supported

    Types Of Memory Supported:

  • PC100 SDRAM (100MHz)
  • Extended Data Output (EDO)
  • Fast Page (FP)

Note: Although the 440LX does not officially support the 83MHz FSB frequency, most motherboard manufacturers have successfully released boards that are able to run at this speed (overclocked).
