Birthplace: Singapore
Started his life of music at the age of 12 years. Completed music studies at 16 in
the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music. Studied music for a year at
the University of the Philippines. After finishing school at Anglo Chinese School,
he was a school teacher for a year. Then on he worked as a music instructor for
Yamaha Music (Asia). In the evenings he played at weddings and company
functions.
1965 - 1st job professionally at the Shamrock Bar & Nite-Club at Dublin
Road. (Later the Golden Star Nite-Club and the Shinding Club)
1966 - Airport Nite-Club with the band Aeronaughts at the Paya Lebar
International Airport. Also the RAF bases at Seletar and Changi Officers'
Clubs.
1966 - Joined the group "Benny & the Trailers" and performed at the
"Pub-Under-ground" in Malaysia Hotel (now the Omni Marco Polo Hotel)
1968 - Formed own group "The Candidates". Performed at the Marco Polo
Theatre Nite-Club situated at Clemenceau Ave. Later in Malaysia to
perform at the May Flower Nite-Club in Kuala Lumpur.
1970 - Played at the "Kelong Nite Club", Ocean Park Hotel with Korean
singer Kiki Kim.
1971 - Performed at the Istana upon request of the Prime Minister (the
current Senior Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew) on his various dinner occasions
given in honour of:
Prime Minister of Japan - Mr H.E.Kakuei Tanaka
Prime Minister of Malaysia - YAB Tun Abdul Razak
Prime Minister of New Zealand - Mr Norman E Kirk
Prime Minister of Australia - Mr E.G. Whitlam
1972 - Music Director for the IBM Convention in Singapore at the
Shangri-La Hotel. Also performed at the Singapore Hilton International
Hotel's Club Bar with his orchestra for several years as well as music
director for the hotel.
In the day, Danny was attached to the Yamaha Music School as
an instructor in the electone organ and piano. He successfully completed
all requirements in electone teaching, performance and fundamentals
and has been an examiner in the Yamaha examinations ever since.
1976 - Performed on the cruise liner MS Rasa Sayang and was also the
onboard director of entertainment.
1977 - Danny was elected as President of the Musician's Union of Singapore. He
was re-elected for another term in 1978.
1980 - Invited as judge for the Talentime national singing competition at the
Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (the present TCS). During this period
he recorded 6 albums and had numerous television appearances.
He won the Singapore Piano Festival and represented his native land in the
1st Asean Song Festival. He was made the music director for Rediffusion Pte Ltd
for the entire series of "Rediffusion Discoveries".
While working for the Hilton Hotel, he was awarded the Best Pianist Performer of
the year and was also the music director for the T.V. series "Take 4".
1981 - Performed at the Holiday Inn Hotel . In the daytime he was the
Principal of Technics Music School, a division of Yorozu Consultants Pte Ltd.
1982 - Danny was involved in the SATS Talentime 1982 and 1984 as a musical
director. Spent 3 years on board the cruise liner M/V Princess Mahsuri
also as a music director. He has backed many well known artistes such as
The Platters, Soloman King, Vikki Carr, Johnny Mathis, Matt Monro,
Howard Morrisson, Johnny Tillitson, Brian Hyland, Sherry Williams,
Freddy Tirra, The Reno Brothers, Frances Yip, Teresa Carpio, Hi-Pertensions,
Ding Mercado, Trio Los Indios and even Peter Karrie (of The Phantom Of The
Opera fame) among many others.
1985 - Performed in Gothia Hotel in Goteborg, Sweden and also at the Sara
Hotel Strand in Sweden. Later he moved to Malmo, Lulea and Stockholm to
perform. He also did short stints in Barcelona and the Intercontinental Hotel
in Athens.
1986 - Danny performed in Australia during this time. He worked in Sydney,
Perth, Melbourne and Tasmania, even venturing to New Caledonia in the
Pacific.
1987 - He performed at the Holiday Inn Parkview and later at the Le Meridien
Hotel Singapore. He was also asked to perform for STPB, the
Singapore Tourist Promotion Board for "Singapore Palette' evening for
some 800 members of the American Business Council. Danny was asked
to adjudicate the 16th Singapore Electone Festival at the World Trade Centre.
In July that year he performed in Adelaide, Australia for STPB in conjunction
with the convention of Australia Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA). After a stint
at the Amara Hotel he was offered to work at the Pan Pacific Hotel with
Jacinta Abisheganaden and thereafter, the Crown Prince Hotel.
Danny was offered to work at the new Melia @ Scotts Hotel for a few months,
culminating with an offer at the American Club in 1997 by the General Manager
Mr Richard Pfaff. The most recent event was the International Wine Dinner.
Has been performing at the American Club for 8 years and also music advisor.
He has performed for these various functions among others:

artistes managers and entertainment consultants.
