2009 OCTOBER SEHC NEWS

5 MILLION TRACTS DISTRIBUTED IN EAST ASIAN TOWNS AND CITIES

The tract “From Emptiness to Satisfaction” and the children’s tract “A Little Faith” are very popular in East Asia and many brethren have gathered teams to distribute it joyfully. Their only gripe is when the tracts run out; replenishments take quite a while to arrive. The author is the late Rev Dr Sang An Zhu, and, by his faith, even now he speaks through his tracts to over 5 million persons. Rev Dr Billy Graham gets a 50,000 to 70,000 strong audience for each night of his rallies, but the reach of literary evangelism goes beyond even that, and each tract can reach about 2 to 5 times of that number. Printing is also much cheaper than the budget for a gospel rally. Please pray for each month’s publications and the readers, and for our design of the Christmas tracts.

PAKISTANI TRACTS DISTRIBUTED ON ITS NATIONAL DAY

14 August is Pakistan’s National Day and despite the local turmoil, we had 20 teams of volunteers giving out tracts at various public places like parks, the zoo, railway stations and airports, and from house-to-house. Altogether, 65, 800 Urdu and Hindi tracts were given out. They rented motorbikes and vans for transport, and one brother loaned us a minibus. We prayed in the vehicles as we gave away tracts along the way and also shared the Gospel with police officers who noticed us. We thank God that many non-Christians were receptive to our message and even left contact numbers and asked for Bibles. The volunteers also spoke with students and professors at the university and distributed 1,000 tracts here. Lately, a foreign elder donated USD 2,250 for the printing of 100,000 Pakistani tracts. We pray that more financially capable professional brethren will support the evangelistic ministry in Third World Countries and glorify the Lord’s name.

LARGE QUANTITIES OF NEPALESE AND BANGLADESHI TRACTS PRINTED

EHC Nepal reported that over 1.2 million Nepalese tracts were distributed last year, reaching many non-Christians who were hearing of Jesus for the first time. Tracts allow those who have never been to church to hear about Christ’s salvation, and this year, they intend to give out as many tracts. They are printing 680,000 cps and will follow with another 520,000 cps. 153,222 tracts were distributed by EHC Bangladesh in June, and 4,923 persons responded. In July, 167,690 cps were given out and 7,252 responded. The encouraging response gave the nurturing department much more work to do. They still have no printing plans for the following months, so please pray for the Lord to provide for these neglected regions.

NEW CHINESE BOOK “BEAUTIFUL FOOTPRINTS” BY SIS YUAN FENG ZHU

This is Sis Yuan’s 2nd book, and is about methods of leading others to Christ. Her manuscript has been keyed into the computer by Sis Leng Bao Zhu and the layout done by the design firm, the author is now doing the final proofread. We hope it can be published soon. Sis Yuan graduated from NTU and, since she entered the field of Christian Counselling, many brethren have benefitted greatly from her talks and lessons. She hopes to join hands with SEHC and use the book to improve Christians’ confidence and skills in evangelism. God willing, she would also hold monthly workshops. Her first book, “Wholesome Youth’s Handbook”, will be edited and published by SEHC. Please pray for her ministry.

DVD OF LAST MONTH’S CHINESE KESWICK AND EXPOSITORY RALLY

We praise God for the success of this rally. Rev Liu Qing Qian is exceptionally gifted in preaching and has rich knowledge in scriptural teachings and powerful evidence for presenting apologetics. His messages help to straighten out the doctrinal trends in the churches and are humorous yet authoritative. The audience applauded his sermons and CCUS President, Rev Daniel Yu calls it “The Message for a New Era”. Aside from being a Presbyterian Minister, Rev Liu is also an Associate Professor of Geriatric Care Management in Taiwan’s Meihe Technical College. He has 4 masters degrees, including Philosophy and Theology, and is currently writing his doctorate thesis. Please pray for him as he has asthma. The DVD for his 9 sermons will be out this month. You can also share the DVD with friends as the messages are superb and 3 of the messages are very evangelistic in nature.

REV ENOCH LAM PROMOTES GOSPEL TV IN HONG KONG

Rev Lam emailed to inform us that his Gospel TV programme had began to air on Channel J in September. It can also be viewed online at www.channelj.org.hk Hosting Gospel TV or radio is different from preaching at church. Rev Lam shares the production costs (HK$7,700,000/- annually) with the station, which is still cheaper than commercial advertising airtime. Also, the programme can continue only if the quality is good. Rev Lam thus has a heavy responsibility to come up with new topics and attractive content. Besides his church ministry, he also needs to manage large evangelistic ministry in various countries. He truly needs God’s grace to spread the Gospel and win souls for Christ. Please pray for the international growth of his ministries and the health of him and his co-workers.

CCIS ENTERING CRUCIAL STAGES OF PREPARATION

A renowned pastor had a very good impression of CCIS and mobilized one of his teams to support CCIS, aside from offering a financial donation. We hope participants will use this event to witness to non-Christians as more than 200,000 of the several million year end tourists flock to Orchard Road. The five stage platforms will feature choir singing, dance performances, and testimonies, including those by foreign choirs, artistes with international levels of achievement, and aboriginal teams from Taiwan, Yunnan, and Indonesia. A working committee of ten, who are all Executive level professionals, are passionately involved in the planning and preparations with the intention to bring the event to modern professional standards. Please continue to pray for and support the CCIS event.

LARGE PRINT EDITION OF “FROM EMPTINESS TO SATISFACTION”

This tract was designed by EHC Hong Kong, which also oversees Chinese churches outside of HK, and was then known as the Worldwide Migrant Chinese Literary Crusade. This tract is circulated in many countries and has millions of readers. That was 40 years ago, and caused quite a roar in the Christian community. Since 1982, SEHC had printed 350,000 cps of the Chinese edition and from 2006, 100,000 cps of the English version. Last month, our publishing teams printed 5 million cps for East Asia, and the Devil is indeed shocked by the scale of this evangelistic strategy. Please pray for the readers as the Devil will surely try to pull them away from the light. Due to the amount of text, SEHC will release a large print English/Chinese version for ease of reading. The price is $4.50 per 100 cps and we welcome your orders for the tract.
