From strength to strength

Have you ever heard of this phrase? Guess, the first person who thought of this must be very motivated and ambitious. It's not good enough just to have strength to achieve what he wanted to achieve in life. No, he was just not satisfied with that. He wanted more.. and more.. He needed more strength so that he could achieve more with less I suppose.

How does one go from strength to strength?
One way is to pop plenty of vitamin pills.
Another obvious way would be to go to a gym at 5am and work out every single day of the week without fail. Takes a lot of motivation.Just thinking of trudging to the gym at such an unearthly hour makes me want to give up right away ...
