The Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration (HSEBA) is the largest business school in Finland and considered one of the top schools in Europe. The school was established by the business community in 1904, and obtained University standing in 1911. During its 85 years history, over 15,000 students have graduated with either a Bachelor in Science, a Master of Science, or a Doctor of Science in Economics. In 1983, a two-year International Master of Business Administration Program in English was launched and it has since then grown into one of Europe's best and most respected International MBA Programs. In 1997, the International MBA Program received accreditation by the Association of MBA's in England as the first business school in the Nordic region. The accreditation placed the HSEBA International MBA Program alongside the top European business schools as INSEAD, London Business School, IMD, and SDA Bocconi to name a few. In 1998, HSE was one of the selected few to be awarded the European Quality label. It has been one of the first schools to receive accreditation from the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS). In 1999, HSE continued to increase its stature by being the 12th member admitted to the prestigious Community of European Management Schools (CEMS).
