Here is a map of Bali
- Bali In Brief Bali is one of the smaller islands of the Indonesian archipelago. The shape of this island is determined by immense volcanoes. The majestic Gunung Agung, rises in the east, its western flank houses the Besakih, the Mother Temple, which was miraculously spared when the volcano last erupted in 1963.
The impact of Balinese Hinduism on the everyday life of the islanders makes itself felt not only in the form of countless temples spread throughout the island but also in the lively tradition of processions, ritual dances and festivities celebrated in temples. You will find Balinese paintings, traditional Gamelan music and handicrafts, especially wood carvings and silverware, in the magnificently located town of Ubud. Only a stone's throw from the motley capital, Denpasar, lie the beaches of Sanur, Nusa Dua and Kuta. (Our cyber café/restaurant is located near to Kuta and Legian area.) Of course, the sunsets in Bali are worth a visit by themselves.
- Climate Expect a pleasant climate year-round with day temperatures between 26°C to 33°C or 80°F to 93°F. From December to March, the west monsoon brings showers and relatively high humidity, but usually the rains pass quickly. From May to September the humidity is low, and it is pleasantly cool in the evenings. Especially in higher regions such as in Bedugul or Kintamani you will need either a sweater or a jacket after the sun sets. Checking out latest weather forecasts for Bali, Indonesia
- What you can see There is an endless variety. Natural attractions include long sandy beaches, picturesque rice terraces, towering active volcanoes, craters, valleys, sacred caves and lakes, and tropical forests full of exotic wildlife. The rich cultural heritage is visible everywhere -- in many ancient temples, palaces and museums, in the many festivals and ceremonies, in drama, music, and dance.
- What you can do There is a lot to do:- you can go swimming, surfing, sailing, scuba diving, or game fishing; play squash, tennis, or golf; go horseback riding, mountain climbing, white-water rafting, or enjoy one of the many excursions and tours around Bali by car, horseback, helicopter, and even by submarine.
You can go shopping for many fine samples or art and craftsmanship such as paintings, delicately crafted gold and silver jewelry, wood and stone carvings, fabrics, clothing, leather goods, trinkets, masks, just to name a few.
- How much does it cost? Transportation is cheap by any standard. The metered radio taxis start with a flagdown of approximately US$ 0.40, and most trip costs 2 to 4 US $. We recommend the Bali Blue Bird Taxi as most of them speak English, for booking call: 701111. Small self-driven jeeps cost from US $ 15 to US $ 29 (with full insurance) per day.
Food and drinks in hotels cost about the same as in the same class of hotel anywhere else in the world -- which means it can be very expensive. If you visit restaurants outside the hotels, prices are much lower. This way you will enjoy delicious meals and all your favourite snacks and drinks -- at lower prices. Do drop by our Cyber Café/Restaurant and you will indeed have your money well spent !
- Where to stay? Large and luxury hotels are plenty and getting too many in Bali, and one would expect they are not cheap. Also there is nothing particularly Balinese about them, they are just big establishments like anywhere else. In recent years several small, so-called "boutique" hotels have opened in Legian, Ubud, and the eastern region. These are very nice and some has bungalow or villa rooms. Though some may be equally expensive as the international 5-star hotels, they offer the real Balinese favour and are very attractive and peaceful. We will try to list a few in the near future.
Each part of Bali seems to attract different sorts of tourists. The young, disco-seeking, beer drinking, surfers migrate to Kuta and Legian area. Large tour groups usually stay at the large hotels in Nusa Dua. Sanur seems to be the favourite for those who want peace and quiet atmosphere, and Ubud is the place for those who want to get away from the urban areas and near to centre of arts and crafts. Candidasa and north Bali offer a place where you would not like to see fellow tourists.
- Require information while you are in Bali? From telephone number of international airline offices, banking, to telecommunication, you will obtain them almost all complete under the Bali Net. Cool!
