COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT UPDATE
Dear Members
The Union and the HCS Group have been negotiating on the new Collective Agreement over 18
meetings in the past several months.
On 22 July 1998, the Union has agreed to the management’s proposal of 3.5% + $10
service increment for 1998, with effect from October 98. Amongst others, we had also
enhanced the ward allowances and night shift premium for our members.
Since then, we have requested and waited for the management to forward the draft
Collective Agreement to us. However, when we met the management on 16th Oct 1998, the
management requested to defer the signing of the Collective Agreement, pending reconvening
of the NWC guidelines and its recommendations, which were expected to be released in mid
November 1998.
The Union had deliberated and agreed to defer. We seek your understanding in this matter
and we hope that all members would be patient and continue your hard work, pending further
announcement from the Union.
