Sabre to move to relational database on Himalaya servers

Sabre Holdings will, over the next 4 years, move its airline reservations systems from IBM mainframes to Compaq's NonStop Himalaya servers and a relational database.  Yes, relational database.  Sabre plans to create an open systems based on C++, Java and SQL.  Compaq and EDS will be assisting Sabre with the migration.

And I agree.  The issue was too heavily politicised and the Government was taking its own sloooow time over it.  It still hadn't decided what it's reserve price.  It still kept making confusing statements about management control.  

Oh sure India can do without the Enrons and Singapore Airlines of the world.  We can close our doors and become what China was till the late '70s.  China was a nuclear and military power but ignored politically and economically.

Addendum on 04-Sep :  With the change in portfolios at the Union Ministry, will Arun Shourie be able to make any headway yet ?  I doubt it.
