Internet Security

Security of your session on the Internet is quite important.  I have been posting a number of security alerts.  For example, see two latest Security alerts from Microsoft 0075 and 0076. Remember that, in the real world, software always needs to be patched or upgraded.   I download at least one patch to MS Windows98/IE and one update to Mcafee VirusScan/VShield every month.

Over the last month, I've also been using a Personal Firewall ZoneAlarm.  It is freely downloadable from ZoneLabs.  (You can test it at GRC.).  There is, on average, at least one attempt at port-scanning or access to my PC by an Intruder *every day* -- even though I am logged on for only about an hour or so.

The Return of the MeltDown ?

First there was the price of oil.  Then there were the profit warnings from the majors (Intel, Dell, Lucent, Apple etc), fears that the US Fed would raise interest rates again and now there's tension in the Middle-East.  How much worse can it get ?
