Microsoft "incredibly sorry" about goofed fix

Microsoft has been repeatedly in the news recently.  There have been cautions about security holes in Windows 2000 and Windows XP  (also see next article about Steve Gibson's report).

Anatomy of a DDoS Attack

Steve Gibson's report about how his site was the victim of a DDoS makes interesting reading.  Also read his explanation for how Windows 2000 and Windows XP could give a "malicous hacker"  the potential to increase the scale of DDoS Attacks -- vastly.  Go on ... read both his articles.

re my leaving Oracle :  (quoting from my email of 12-June-01)

My ! Am I overwhelmed by the response to the single-line
in my last email.
Yes, Oracle is a very good company.  If you do get the
opportunity, you must work for Oracle.  I still recommend
Oracle for anyone in the corresponding line of work.
However, I finally decided to leave Oracle not because
there's anything wrong at Oracle -- but just because I wanted
to be doing something else.  I was tired of the
short-term consulting engagements -- no offence to
Oracle but few customers would be willing to pay
for long-term DBA services at Oracle Consulting
rates in this part of the world.  I would like to be proven wrong
in that.

I am back to being a Production DBA (as I was at
Stock Holding  for quite some time).  I am still in
Singapore.  Nothing wrong with Singapore and I find
there would not be enough reason to leave Singapore
for "oosa"-land.  Yes, India beckons me back ....
sometime in the future ?
