University

Held the position of council member in 8th Union Council in 1998/99.
Held position of Vice-President in Welfare Services Club 4th Management Committee in 1998/99.
Awarded Singapore Youth Award 1999 (Team) for Community Service & Youth Development by National Youth Council in 1999.
Held the position of Chairperson in Welfare Services Club Voluntarism Week '99 in 1999.
Held position of Executive Official in Welfare Services Club Freshmen Orientation Camp 1998/99.
Held position of Chief Programmer in Welfare Services Club Freshmen Orientation Camp 1997/98.
Held the position of Volunteer in Welfare Services Club Regular Service Project (Intellectually Disabled) in 1997/98.
Held the position of Group IC in Welfare Services Club Students' Action for Children in 1997 and 1998.
Held position of Programmer in Welfare Services Club Charity Bang! 1997/98.
Participated as Member in Welfare Services Club Red Nose Day 1998/99.


College

Held the position of Member in Badminton Club from 1993 to 1994.
Held the position of Executive Committee Member (Head of Technical) in Audio Visual Aid Unit.


Secondary

Held the position of Member in Badminton Club from 1989 to 1992. Emerged champion in Inter-Class Badminton Tournaments from 1990 to 1992. Represented Tanglin Technical School in the West Zone Badminton Tournaments in 1990.
Held the position of Captain in Chinese Chess Team and emerged champion in the Inter-Class Chinese Chess Competition in 1991 and 1992.
Awarded Bronze Award for English Project Competition in 1992.
Participated in Singapore Secondary Schools Mathematical Olympiad 1992.
Participated in 24th Inter-School Mathematics Competition.
Held the position of Class AV Assistant in 1991 and 1992.
Selected as compere for Language Dance and Drama Society (LDDS) Night in 1992.


Others

Held the position of Program Coordinator in Rollin' Good Times 2001.
Participated in performance item by Singapore Soka Association in NDP '01.

 


Union Council is a supreme student body within the university. The council comprises of Students' Union Executive Committee members, all constituent clubs' President, non-academic constituent clubs' Vice-President, and one student representative from Nanyang Institute of Education (NIE).

Welfare Services Club (WSC) is one of the three non-academic constituent clubs in Nanyang Technological University. All matriculated students are member of the constituent clubs. The club has more than 800 active members involved in direct and indirect volunteerism as well as supportive roles in the club.

Singapore Youth Award
, in particular Youth Development and Community Service category, is an award given in recognition to volunteers who have contributed in this aspect by the National Youth Council. The club is honored to receive the award from Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong.

Voluntarism Week
is an annual charity fair cum exhibition event organized by WSC. Beneficiaries from various Voluntary Welfare Organizations (VWOs) are invited to give performances as well. It aims to increase the confidence of the beneficiaries and raise the awareness of students towards volunteerism.

Regular Service Project
is one of the three main functions of WSC. It is a weekly voluntary activity provided by the members to the beneficiaries. There are a total of 5 projects in 5 different areas, namely, Hearing Impaired, Intellectually Disabled, Elders, Youth, and Visually Handicapped.

Students' Action for Children, Charity Bang!,
and Red Nose Day belong to the Special Project function of WSC. These projects served as avenues for the students to volunteer themselves and also a means for the VWOs to raise funds for their own activities.

Head of Technical
is the Executive Committee member in-charge of all technical aspects in the school and equipments of the club.

Rollin' Good Times is a community service project initiated by Student Volunteer Corps (SVC), a voluntary body whose aim is to make volunteerism a way of life amongst students in Singapore. It was first held in 26 May 2001. The event is a mix of an Elderly Olympiad and a Carnival. The objectives of the project are to promote student volunteerism, encourage elderly to lead a healthy lifestyle, and heighten understanding and communications between students and the elderly.
