SANCHIN
Introduction
The name means three battles, involving the Mind, Body and Spirit.
Steps
- Kama-tte (Face North).
Move right leg towards left leg and stand in
musubi dachi. Simultaneously bring both fists towards chest and change into
open hands with left hand in front of the right hand. Rotate both hands
inwards and end up with both finger tips pointing downwards.
Move both legs outwards into heiko dachi and both open hands change
into fist and move them to the sides with palms facing inwards.
- Move Right leg forward into right sanchin dachi and execute a morote yoko uke.
- Pull back left fist. Breathe in.
- Execute a left punch and breathe out at the same time.
- Pull back left hand to perform a yoko uke and at the same time breathe in and out.
- Move Left leg forward into left sanchin dachi.
- Pull back right fist. Breathe in.
- Execute a right punch and breathe out at the same time.
- Pull back right hand to perform a yoko uke and at the same time breathe in and out.
- Move right leg forward into right sanchin dachi.
- Pull back left fist. Breathe in.
- Execute a left punch and breathe out at the same time.
- Pull back left hand to perform a yoko uke and at the same time breathe in and out.
- Place left fist below right elbow and look left.
- Cross right leg infront of the left leg.
- Turn body to face south and stand in left sanchin stance. Right fist chamber at the right side of the body.
- Execute a right punch and breathe out at the same time.
- Pull back right hand to perform a yoko uke and at the same time breathe in and out.
- Move right leg forward into right sanchin dachi.
- Pull back left fist. Breathe in.
- Execute a left punch and breathe out at the same time.
- Pull back left hand to perform a yoko uke and at the same time breathe in and out.
- Place left fist below right elbow and look left.
- Cross right leg infront of the left leg.
- Turn body to face north and stand in left sanchin stance. Right fist chamber at the right side of the body.
- Execute a right punch and breathe out at the same time.
- Pull back right hand to perform a yoko uke and at the same time breathe in and out.
- Move right leg forward into right sanchin dachi.
- Pull back left fist. Breathe in.
- Execute a left punch and breathe out at the same time.
- Pull back left hand to perform a yoko uke and at the same time breathe in and out.
- Pull back right fist. Breathe in.
- Execute a right punch and breathe out at the same time.
- Pull back right hand to perform a yoko uke and at the same time breathe in and out.
- Press left open hand down in front of body.
- Press right open hand down in front of body.
- Grab both hands into fist and pull back. Press both hands (change fist into open hands) forward.
Repeat this step three times. Breathing in during pulling back and out during pressing down.
- Step back into left sanchin and execute a shotei uke.
- Step back into right sanchin and execute a shotei uke.
- Nao-tte. Pull back right foot to form musubi dachi. Simultaneously bring both
hands towards chest and rotate both hands inwards and end up with both finger tips
pointing downwards. Right leg move right to form Hachiji dachi and stand in Nao-tte
position.
