SHISOCHIN

Introduction

The name means battle in four directions.

Steps

  1. Kama-tte (Face North). Move right leg towards left leg and stand in musubi dachi. Simultaneously bring both fists towards chest and change into open hands with left hand in front of the right hand. Rotate both hands inwards and end up with both finger tips pointing downwards. Move both legs outwards into heiko dachi and both open hands change into fist and move them to the sides with palms facing inwards.
  2. Slide the right foot forward into right Sanchin Dachi and assume Morote Chudan open hand block with both palms facing each other. Pull back the left hand back to chamber and deliver a left Chudan Nukite, immediately returning to morote chudan open hand block.
  3. Next, slide the left foot forward into left Sanchin Dachi. Pull back the right hand back to chamber and deliver a right Chudan Nukite, immediately returning to morote chudan open hand block.
  4. Step forward into right Sanchin Dachi. Pull back the left hand back to chamber and deliver a left Chudan Nukite, immediately returning to morote chudan open hand block.
  5. Bring both hands down to the sides of the body and scoop up together until the chin level. Then step back into left Zenkutsu Dachi while performing Morote Gedan Barai.
  6. Slide the right foot forward by 30 degrees into right Zenkutsu Dachi while crossing the arms left over right and perform a right Chudan open hand yoko uke together with a left open-hand Gedan palm heel block.
  7. Next, bring the left hand to the right side below the elbow and move it circularly towards the left (for catching the opponents hand). The right arm strikes left (right arm strikes the opponents elbow) using chudan open hand yoko uchi. The stance shift simulataneosly into a left Zenkutsu Dachi.The left hand ended at the left side with the palm facing down.
  8. Step toward north with the left foot into left Zenkutsu Dachi offset by 30 degrees to the left and cross the arms right over left and perform a left Chudan open hand yoko uke together with a right open-hand Gedan palm heel block.
  9. Next, bring the right hand to the left side below the elbow and move it circularly towards the right. The left arm strikes right using chudan open hand yoko uchi. The stance shift simulataneosly into a right Zenkutsu Dachi. The right hand ended at the right side with the palm facing down.
  10. Pull the left foot into Heisoku Dachi facing north and deliver a right age Hiji ate and chamber left fist. Bent knees slightly.
  11. Then, step right foot forward and turn the back to face south, ending in left Zenkutsu Dachi and execute a left Jodan Shotei Tsuki and a right Gedan Shotei Barai.
  12. Shift left foot slightly westwards and turn towards north, ending in right Zenkutsu Dachi and execute a right Jodan Shotei Tsuki and a left Gedan Shotei Barai.
  13. Shift left foot west and turn towards west in left Zenkutsu Dachi and execute a left Jodan Shotei Tsuki and a right Gedan Shotei Barai.
  14. Shift left foot slightly northwards and turn towards east in right Zenkutsu Dachi and execute a right Jodan Shotei Tsuki and a left Gedan Shotei Barai. (These few movements give the kata its name).
  15. Slide the left foot forward into left Sanchin Dachi and perform a left Kake te (face East).
  16. Perform right Mae Geri, maintaining the hand positions, and land the right foot into right Zenkutsu Dachi and execute a right Hiji Ate, pulling the left palm to the solar plexis.
  17. Pivot left 180 degrees, crossing the right foot behind, into left Sanchin Dachi and perform a left Kake te.
  18. Then slide the right foot forward into right Sanchin Dachi and perform a right Kake te.
  19. Perform left Mae geri and land left foot westwards into left zenkutsu dachi and execute a left hiji ate.
  20. Next, shift left foot south into right zenkutsu dachi facing North and execute a right Hiji Ate.
  21. Follow by pivoting 180 degrees to the left so as to face south, pulling the left foot back into left Nekoashi Dachi while crossing the arms and then performing a morote Chudan open hand yoko uke.
  22. Then, move the right foot forward into right Zenkutsu Dachi and deliver a Morote Hiji Ate.
  23. Step toward south with the left foot into left Zenkutsu Dachi offset by 30 degrees to the left and cross the arms right over left and perform a left Chudan open hand yoko uke together with a right open-hand Gedan palm heel block.
  24. Next, bring the right hand to the left side below the elbow and move it circularly towards the right. The left arm strikes right using chudan open hand yoko uchi. The stance shift simulataneosly into a right Zenkutsu Dachi. The right hand ended at the right side with the palm facing down.
  25. Slide the right foot forward by 30 degrees into right Zenkutsu Dachi while crossing the arms left over right and perform a right Chudan open hand yoko uke together with a left open-hand Gedan palm heel block.
  26. Next, bring the left hand to the right side below the elbow and move it circularly towards the left. The right arm strikes left using chudan open hand yoko uchi. The stance shift simulataneosly into a left Zenkutsu Dachi.The left hand ended at the left side with the palm facing down.
  27. Pivot on the left foot and bring the right foot into Heisoku Dachi facing south, and execute left hiji ate.
  28. Slide the left foot forward and turn 180 degrees to the right to form left Nekoashi Dachi facing north, crossing the arms in front of the chest left over right, and execute a right chudan open hand yoko uke and left open-handed Gedan Barai.
  29. Nao-tte. Pull back right foot to form musubi dachi. Simultaneously bring both hands towards chest and rotate both hands inwards and end up with both finger tips pointing downwards. Right leg move right to form Hachiji dachi and stand in Nao-tte position.
