Cu-chee, cu-chee, cu...Hi there, little kitty! Welcome to our site. Can you introduce yourself?
Tee hee hee... :) I'm a very shy feline and I just want to be known as Ginger. (blush)
Aww...sweetie, that's okay. Look! Our readers are shy too! (pet, pet, pet)So can you tell us how old are you, a little bit of your kitten days and how did you come to live with your foster family?
Well, I'm a pure Singaporean breed. As far as I can remember, I was born in the void deck of a HDB flat somewhere in mid 1992. I have a vague memory of who my parents and siblings are. At 6 weeks old, my parents abandoned us and I think something terrible must have happened to them. (sob) Some of my siblings didn't survive and some simply got lost. I was tiny, skinny and dirty back then and I almost died from hunger. Fortunately, a kind family (tee hee hee) rescued me and since then, they've become my foster family.
So what's your favourite food, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time and do you have a girl friend?
My favourite dish would have to be fine Friskies fancy feast feline's gourmet. (That's ocean fish delight, rich in vitamins and calcuim) I also eat a lot of snacks too. You know, those cute little fish shaped biscuits specially made for cats, but my foster mom says too much is bad for me but I just don't care. (grinning from whisker to whisker)
I enjoy watching discovery channel on TV especially shows on birds and fish (yummy!) but there's something suspicious about that goggle box. Each time I try to come close to take a sniff, it changes pictures real fast! So sometimes I just prefer to chase lizards and cockroaches around the house. I once gave my master a lizard corpse as a gift but she immediately threw it away in the gabbage bin.
A cat like me must also have my 16 hours of beauty sleep so I take lots of cat naps around the house. Sleeping's just my hobby and health revitalizer.
As for my love life (blush). Nope, I don't have any steady girlfriends but I do have a lot of feline friends who turn up at our doorstep to say hi once in a while
Okay, now a bit about your feline culture. Tell us something about your heritage.
We cats are very private and independent creatures. We like to be left alone sometimes. We're also self maintaining pets. Nobody has to take us out for walks because we're capable of going ourselves.
Our tougues double up as grooming tools because it's rough and it acts as a brushing device. However, once in a while, my mummy would give me a good brush with that ugly metal comb to prevent me from swallowing any loose fur.
Whenever we want attention from humans, we just do the 'rubba-rubba thing' on their legs. Its our way of showing love and care and that we're friendly too. (purr...)
Cat language consist of both verbal and non verbal cues. In our vocabulary, we have 16 distinctive 'meows' The position of our tail and ears are also important communication signals.
We're natural hunters and hunting birds and fish is just a God given instinct. (so don't blame us!) Once in a while, we enjoy being tickled under the chin and tummy because these are pretty hard to reach areas for us.
So what impression do you have of humans?
Well, my foster family has always been good to me. (purr...)
Overall, I think some humans are nice and some are strange when they make funny noises at me. (Yep, you're one of them). There are others whom are just plain cruel. Some of my relatives are not as fortunate as I am. They live in the wild on the streets and have to fend for themselves from danger. I have relatives who died from being kicked to death. Cruel humans have even scotched their fur with hot water. Some school boys even tied rubber bands to my distant cousins's tail and ears. Lucky for him, he was picked up by the SPCA and given to a family for adoption. I just wish these cruel people could know what's it like to be in some poor cats' shoes
Some humans claim that cats are dirty. What do you have to say to that?
What! I'm appalled! (hiss!!!) We cats are very clean loving creatures. The only reason why some cats are dirty is because humans made them. The disease they've got are caused by humans! For your information, I have to get vacinated once a year by the vet and I always insist that the sheets in my potty be changed each time I go to the litter pan. I always practice proper potty ettiquete by burying my business in the sand!
As for stray cats, they're like any other stray animals. Come to think of it, dogs seem more fortunate than us. Most people love dogs more than cats. :(
Okay, to end this interview, do you have any message for the people out there?
Yes, for all animal lovers, thank you for your kindness and care and for recognising us as one of God's special creations. (sob) When the bible (I'm a Catholic kitty) said to love your neighbours as yourself, I think we were supposed to be included too.
As for all the cruel humans, if you don't like animals, just leave us alone because we've done nothing wrong to you. Just put yourselves in our shoes and try to think of the fear we go through...But what goes around, comes around. So I believe that when you hurt someone or something, somehow it'll come back to you.
Okay sayang. Thanks for your time. Can we have your autograph b4 your leave?
Sure. Here's my paw print for you!
