CHAIRMAN’S REPORT ON THE
1997-1999 TERM YOUTH EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Dear members,
My sincere belief that the Youth today is vibrant and dynamic.
In order to stay relevant, YEC must continue to adapt and meet these needs.
For these reasons, we had set up sub clubs to cater to different needs.
They are Archery, basketball and aero modeling. Our Archery Club had done
us proud by winning numerous awards both local and overseas. These include
the First Inter CC Archery Competition where Potong Pasir CC emerged as
Champions. Our Basketball sub club had participated in numerous competitions
like PAYM-Nike 3 on 3 Basketball. The Aero modeling also received newspaper
coverage, magazine coverage like Citizen.
We have tried to set up an Internet interest group, but was not
very successful then. Our consolation for these efforts was a Top ten award
in the PAYM On Line competition.
Recognition should also goes to our Children’s camp, which drew
pre and post event newspaper coverage. Our SDS efforts include the Archery
Cum karaoke sessions, badminton sessions and bowling competitions. Our
farm tours held in conjunction with various sub groups like IAC, WEC, RC4
and RC4 seeks to promote Grassroot bonding and cohesiveness.
YEC in itself, is a skull. What makes and drives YEC successful
depends very much on the support of each of us. I like to thank those who
had come this far with me. Where do we go from here? When we set into the
upgraded CC, we would be looking at better facilities for youth. These
include the upgraded indoor archery and bringing IT closer to Potong Pasir.
Participate in the basketball sessions, have fun with Archery,
participate in the bowling competition, learn how to design web pages.
Aero modeling. Be part of our sub clubs if you feel the youth beat!
