This is a Catholic webpage. Since Catholics make up only about 20% of the world population, I may end up offending 80% of you guys out there (however, I hope I do not :-)
I make no apologies for my beliefs, but I will be apologetic. Before you throw up your hands in frustration over my apparent "double-speak", please allow me to explain...
The word "apologetic" (as used above) is derived from the Greek apologia, meaning "defence or justification". What I aim to do here is to justify the Catholic Faith with rational arguments, empirical evidence, etc. Or I may just let the beauty of the Holy Religion founded by Our Lord justify itself (which can be more convincing than some arguments!).
Ultimately, nobody ever became a Catholic merely because of persuasive arguments and proofs. My intention here is not to supplant the work of grace, the work of the Holy Spirit (as if I could!), but simply to assist the honest inquirer to reach a point where he cries out to the Lord, " I do believe; help my unbelief!" (cf. Mark 9:24)
God Bless!

This timeless parable from St. Luke's Gospel is a beautiful illustration of the Infinite Mercy of God. No matter how crappy you are, God's love and mercy are bigger than your sins! The text is from the Revised Standard Version (RSV) and the commentary is from the Navarre Bible. |

I wish I could say that I wrote this piece, but I can't so I won't. It was actually written by Abp. Fulton Sheen, a cleric so popular that he actually had his own TV show in America! But the good bishop isn't just a Catholic "Letterman" or "Leno" - besides being blessed with a fantastic intellect (this is not an exaggeration), his spirituality and holiness are quite evident in his sermons and writings. This is the 1st chapter of his best-selling book, "Life of Christ". The essay is both stirring and apologetical. |

Peter Pater - Was St. Peter The 1st Pope? (and other related questions) |
|
This is the .html version of an actual e-mail dialogue which I had with someone inquiring about the Papacy, the role of the Pope in the Catholic Church. Many interesting questions were raised and dealt with during the exchange, eg. Was St. Peter the Chief Apostle? Who is "the Rock", St. Peter or Sylvester Stallone? Why was St. Peter given the Keys to the Kingdom? Was St. Peter ever in Rome, and did he fly Alitalia to get there? Did St. Peter have successors? If the Pope is infallible, what's the deal with Galileo? If you prefer to read the dialogue off-line, please e-mail me for a Winword or Wordperfect version thereof, and I'll send it to you as a file attachment. |

This page is a compilation of true stories recounting how God utilises extraordinary means to bring His errant children back home to Him. I hope that these accounts will destroy the myth that God is a stern and unapproachable Father who easily "gives up" on His children when they misbehave. The mercy of God is boundless (but please don't abuse it)! |

My conversion story - from nominal Catholic to lapsed Catholic to agnostic (or whatever) and back home to Rome! Soon to be a major motion picture entitled "Rome-antic": directed by James Cameron and starring Ralph DiCaprio (Leonardo's ugly stepbrother). |

For some reason which I cannot fathom, Mr L.A. "Tony" Kovach (you've seen him in such websites as "The ABC's of Faith") wanted to interview me and find out what's ticking behind this cuckoo clock. Discover how an ex-Green Beret and property magnate fought cocaine addiction to become a Catholic priest (or is that somebody else's conversion story?). Highly recommended reading for insomniacs. (Totally original lawyer joke: What's the difference between a vampire and a lawyer? A vampire only sucks blood at night.) |

The case of Roe v. Wade was a milestone (albeit a sad one) in American legal history, setting the stage for the legalisation of abortion on demand. By the grace of God, however, "Jane Roe" has repented, and has now expressed her desire to embrace the Catholic Faith. A signal conversion in the Year of the Holy Spirit! |

This webpage is under the patronage and protection of my guardian angel, St. Bill. You don't want to mess with him: he's good, but he can be real baaad...
