Watcom SQL Server

Watcom SQL is a multi-platform, high-performance database server which is optimized for workgroup, desktop and mobile environments. It addresses the rapidly growing market for an affordable database server that can be broadly deployed with little administrative support. Distributed on a single CD, it is the first SQL database with support for Windows 95, Windows 3.x, Windows NT, and OS/2 in a single, shrink-wrapped package. Additionally DOS is included in the standalone version while Novell ships with the server editions. The database server supports ANSI standard SQL and provides advanced capabilities, including stored procedures, triggers, cascading updates and deletes, bi-directional scrollable cursors, referential integrity, row-level locking, symmetric multi-threading of requests, and on-line backup.

It requires minimal database administration, takes only a few minutes to install, and its self-tuning, cost-based query optimizer offers excellent performance out of the box. A true 32-bit implementation, Watcom SQL lets you fully exploit the power of modern PCs. In addition, Watcom SQL's high- performance cost-based query optimizer actually learns on-the-fly, determining the most effective way to access your information. The small disk and memory footprints make Watcom SQL the ideal engine for mobile applications. Watcom SQL is the only database available today with support for peer-to-peer networks such as the Microsoft Windows Network.

The competitive pricing of Watcom SQL, combined with its ease of use and minimal resource requirements provides a cost-effective solution for implementing today's client/server database technology.
