Support Groups & Resources

This page is for the wonderful children & families who have shown great courage & love. I've got a note from a young lady in Canada. Pls e-mail me if you would like to contribute any story, article or teaching ideas. If you wish to start a support group, pls contact me !

Should my child take Chinese ?    My child can't keep still for 1 minute.   Should my child repeat kindergarten? . . .

If you want to know the answers to many parenting questions, join a support group to help you make an informed decision. You'll be relieved to know you're not alone. Learn about how someone else coped with his/her disabilities & decide if you want the same for your family.  Share your burdens, joy and hopes.

Here's a online site for support groups. [Click here] There are some support groups which I have not listed here. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/ find a group by keying in keywords such as "autism" and "Singapore", then enter SEARCH.

4. Sotos syndrome

Date : 17 Nov 2000

Hi, I am Michelle. I was born in Singapore 17 years ago. I have a very rare syndrome called Sotos. You can read more about it at their web site. It is at  http://www.well.com/user/sssa  My parents are members of this Association. My email is michelletey@rogers.com

useful link : Canadian Soto Association

I went to Towner Gardens [Miss Chia's school] and I was in Mrs. Vello and Miss Gee's class. Ah chek drove me to school from Chuan Park. I love the bus ride and I still do! I am a happy girl and I stand 5 ft. 6 ins tall. I have a brother who is studying computer science at Waterloo University.

My hobbies are many and they include swimming, animals, home videos, outdoor walks, computers, music , singing, books and soccer. Mum especially, needs a lot of patience to help me learn more life skills like bathing, toileting etc..

I go to a high school, in a self contain classroom. I will be in school until 21. After that I hope to go to a day program called the 925421. My parents are helping out to form this new setting with some other parents.

My motto is : lots of common sense, sing when you are lonely or angry, and keep smiling always. Be consistent, give yourself a pat and say," I have done my best and the rest is up to you, Lord".

Take care and hope to hear from anyone. Thanks to you, Auntie Ping Ping.
