Objective
This course is specifically designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to work in a computing environment with the following objectives:

· to provide a basic knowledge of computer hardware and software
· to introduce how computers are integrated into business organisations
· to develop the participants' analytical and personal skills necessary to work in a specialised computing and management environment

 

Course Structure and Duration

This Advanced Diploma course is structured to comprise a total of 6 modules of study and 1 computing project. Conducted on a part-time basis, the programme spreads over a 12-month period totaling 240 contact hours. Classes meet thrice a week for a 2 or 3-hour session.

Admission Requirements

· Interested applicants must possess one of the following entrance requirements:
· Full GCE A" levels with an average of C grade, plus 2 years of work experience OR
· Diploma awarded by MDIS or other recognised local/overseas polytechnics or professional institutes with 2 years of work experience
· Computing Diplomas from recognised instittutes (NCC, HND, BTEC, etc) with 2 years work experience

Additional Requirements

All applicants must also possess a C6 pass in English (EL1) and Elementary Mathematics at GCE 'O' levels.

Applicants who do not meet the English requirement are required to:
a. score a minimum of 6 points in the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) conducted by the British Council OR

b. score 213 points on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) conducted by the United States Education and Information Centre

Applicants who do not meet the Elementary Mathematics requirement are required to sit for the Mathematics Test conducted by MDIS.

Software Development II

 

*   Course Objectives

 

The aims are to introduce the science of programming and to develop software skills in an industrially relevant, modern programming language. The module uses the programming language Java to introduce object-oriented programming and modern programming features such as user interfaces and networking.
