Why do we want to serve God... |
Richard: Lord, Send Me!His PreparationI (Richard) came to know about CCC while I was in the university. Through the ministry of CCC, God helped me to develop a closer walk with Him.As I actively involved myself in evangelism and discipleship, I saw that people are lost without Christ; and God desires all to be saved. I began to have a burden for lost souls, and I wanted to give my best to bring the gospel to people.
His CallWhile working on my final year project, I realised that I could not be effective both for the Lord and in my work. Though I have the desire to be Christ’s witness at work, I have the tendency to be so preoccupied with my work that I literally forget about God’s work; it has affected my commitment to God.As I began to evaluate my life in the light of eternity, I decided that I do not want to have any regrets: I want my life to count for Christ. So in June 1989, I started to seek God's will for the possibility of serving him full time. In the months that followed, I felt an increasing desire to serve God full time. As I continue to serve Him in the ministry, I see the great need for people to come to know the Lord. Indeed the harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few. So during the campus Leadership Training Institute (LTI) in November 1989, I committed myself to serve Him full time.
His ReminderThe few months after that was a time of testing for me. At one stage I was actually contemplating pursuing a career which I had been dreaming of for many years. One day, God spoke to me using 2 Corinthians 9:1-7: Paul was reminding the Corinthians about their “...previously promised bountiful gift, that the same might be ready as a bountiful gift, and not affected by covetousness.” (2 Cor 9:5) I have not promised anything to God except my commitment to serve Him full time; and my earthly desires had affected it. His Word came across so strongly that I recommitted myself to serve Him.
His AssuranceHowever, I still had some reservations because of my financial situation and my family. But God assured me through 2 Cor 9:8-15 that “...God is able to make all grace abound to you, that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed.” (2 Cor 9:8)
His TrainingI went through a nine months residential training at the Great Commission Training Centre (GCTC) in June 1990. The training included character building, self development, ministry skills, and practical field work in evangelism and discipleship. All these helped to equip me to be more effective for the Lord's work.

Perlin: In His Steps. His Love1979 marked the turning point of my (Perlin) life because it was then that I accepted the Lord to be my personal Saviour. I thank God that ever since I know Jesus Christ, I experienced the hope and love He offered in exchange for the frustrations I felt at home.
His LeadingA few years after I became a Christian, I attended a mission conference, my heart was burdened by Mark 16:15 (Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation) and a desire to serve God in full-time ministry began to grow. Young as I was in faith and age, I was not ready for any commitment except to attend more mission seminars and conferences and to participate in witnessing blitz whenever possible with friends from CCC.
His TimingSoon I was out in the working world. Now it became harder to come out of this seemingly ‘attractive and much to offer’ society. My spirit was willing but my flesh was weak. I wrestled with my desire to serve God full-time and the desire to earn more money (I am the eldest in my family and have the heaviest responsibility). Nevertheless, my desire to serve Him grew stronger each day. I learnt that faith must be active, not passive. If I said, “I have faith in God, His grace is sufficient for me and He is my provided,” I have to be willing to let Him be the Master of my life.On November 1992 I decided to put my trust in God and started work with CCC as a paid administrative assistant. This was a stepping stone for me to know more about CCC and to seek the Lord’s confirmation. After much prayer and seeking of counsel, I'm convinced that God has called me to serve Him with CCC. On 22 October 1993, I was accepted on staff with CCC. I now trust God to raise my own team of prayer and financial supporters.

Partnership With ChristiansGod’s work cannot be done by ourselves alone. We need a team of committed people to support us both financially and in prayer. It is the policy of CCC that every staff raises his/her own team of financial supporters. The amount raised is meant to cover our salary, CPF (Central Provident Fund), insurance, administrative charges, and other ministry related financial needs. We are trusting God to provide for all our financial needs through fellow Christians. Without such support our ministry will not be possible. When Christians support us (in both finance and prayer), they are investing in the Lord’s work. Their partnership will help to change the lives and destiny of people who have never heard of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
If you are a Christian...If you are a Christian and you would like to be involved in God’s work, be it financing us or praying for us, we would like to get in touch with you. Please send an electronic mail to us and tell us how we can contact you. We appreciate your support. |
