Lee Meng's Wonderland

Your check-in time is on

Welcome to Lee Meng's Wonderland! At my trend-setting homepage, you will discover what's hot and what's not in the universe today. There exists a very high chance that you will also pick up some tips on how to live life to the fullest, and I don't mean partying at Velvet Underground or dancing on the platforms at Zouk.

This is me at 12 months old.

My very first words later became a famous one-liner for a certain beer advertisement.

I graduated from The National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts (2nd Upper Honours) degree in English Language in 2000. My Honours Thesis is titled "A Study of the 'hah' and 'hor' particles in Colloquial Singapore English".

Life in a so-called "institute of higher learning" is not a bed of roses. There are endless lectures and tutorials, as well as assignment deadlines to meet. However, in the midst of struggling with schoolwork, I monitor the stock market to maintain my sanity. When "investments" in stocks and shares fail to "pay dividends", I turn to playing football - another one of my pastimes.

Me and some of my football kakis

Me and some of my football kakis, all Evertonians!

The tall, dark & handsome guy in the back row, 3rd from your left, is me!

Besides playing football, I am also a staunch supporter of Everton Football Club and I have supported Everton FC since their glory years in the eighties. I believe that supporting a team is like a marriage. It is a lifetime commitment - standing by your team, whether "in sickness or in health". Why else do you think that I am still in love with a team whose last league title win was in 1987?

When the stock market is bearish, or when I need to replenish body fluids after a game of football, I seek solace in my favourite drink - Tiger Beer! (For the uninitiated, see picture below)

Tiger beer - Good as gold around the world

Newton Circus is one of my favourite haunts for "Happy Hour". Matthew's Beer Corner (the drinks stall near the foot of the Newton Circus overhead bridge) has been a haven for some of my beer-guzzling pals and I over the past few years. Whenever an occasion calls for a smooth, malty and refreshing ice-cold beverage, you can be sure that our butts will be warming the seats at a table near Matthew's. No bloody dress code and no irritating waiters checking your ICs!! Who needs Boat Quay or Mohamed Sultan?
