In control describes how the main character, Raman, has tried so hard to discipline his mind against wild emotions such as lust. The effectiveness of this effort is questioned with the appearance of Daisy, who so throws his mind into disorder.
Flower of darkness describes Daisy herself, from the point of view of Raman. He was unable to resist her charms by himself and thus thought to himself on how evil she was, thereby becoming able to withstand her by fooling himself.
Fixing a broken heart, adapted from a song of the same name, describes Raman's feelings at the end of the book where Daisy reveals that she feels her calling to be more important than the marriage the two had agreed on. The key, given to him by Daisy (who tells him to pass it to someone) was thrown into a dry fountain. The 'splash' as mentioned in the poem was a metaphorical term. The key thrown away would indicate how Raman has given up hope of Daisy's return.
Yep that was the actual assignment, I'm not a very poetic person so I've no idea how to evaluate these myself. Are they good or bad? I shall trust my Literature teacher on this one.
By the way, I was crapping when I'd said The 'splash' as mentioned in the poem was a metaphorical term. I had no idea that it was a dry fountain when I was writing the poem, only when I looked through the ending itself did I catch myself. However, poetry being what it is, this was a situation most easily remedied.
