What stick should I choose?
Due to the enormous development of floorball, we see a huge increase in the number of new and improved sticks to enhance the play of the players. Thus, choosing a suitable and right stick has became a difficult task.
It is always best to try the stick before buying so as to make sure you get the one that is suitable for you. All the sticks available in Tiasa, the floorball specialist are from major manufactures and endorsed by many good players in Europe. The prices vary to allow players to have a wider choice.
Competitive players will often use stiffer sticks to enable them to make quicker passes and to take quicker shots.
Young, enthusiastic players will prefer to use a softer stick to improve stick skills. A softer blade is more advisable as they can dribble and control the ball easily.
What is the correct length of a stick?
The stick length approved by IFF is 120 cm. However, it is important to get a stick that suits your height. The shaft of a stick can be shorten to suit you. A saw can be used to cut a stick. The right length is measured from the floor up to your navel with the blade included.
A shorter stick will give you better control and technique because it brings you closer the ball. This means you can take more advantage when passing and scoring. However, you will have a disadvantage when you are chasing for a ball together with an opponent.
How should I bend my blade?
The blade can be angled into the shape that you want. A more curved blade will give you better control on your forehand and it makes dribbles easier. However, it may make passing difficult. A less curved blade will give you a better backhand pass.
You have to make sure that the blade is not curved more than 3 cm. The bend is measured from the lower edge to the highest point of the blade when the stick in place on an even surface.
A hot air gun can be used to heat the blade so that you can
reshape it. The blade has to be carefully warmed up especially the inner material
of the ribs if not the blade will crack when you are bending it. But overheating
will melt the plastic also. After the blade is thoroughly heated, create the
bend and made the desired hook. The bend is finished when the blade has cooled
down. The best way to cool the blade, is to place it in air con room or cold
water.

How should I change my blade?
Due to frequent contact with the floor, the blade will suffer from wear and tear. It is a common practice to change the blade when you realize that the blade has affected your play.
It is important that you get a correct blade to replace the old one. First, you have to loosen the screw on the old blade and then remove the old blade on the shaft by heating the blade heel using a hot-air gun. The blade can be pulled out from the shaft when the glue inside the blade heel has softened. Insert the new blade into the shaft and replace the screw.

How to maintain my blade?
The plastic of the sticks are usually polyamide (PA) or polyethylene (HDPE). PA is a stiff material which keeps its shapes well even after bending. HDPE is a light material which is easy to shaped providing gentle contact with the ball. Both materials can be heated and hooked up many times.
Excessive humidity will cause hard blade to become soft. Avoid placing your sticks in the boot of the car or together with your damp clothes as the blade will absorb the humidity.
