Preface

17th Mac 2000

For any avid reader, writing usually forms part of his interests. I am no exception. But to put interest into action, it calls for something more than our very nature. Scott Peck would probably call it 'self-discipline'.
Imbued with a sense of mission to contribute to the evolution of mankind, the idea of writing this book is conceived.

After benefiting so much from the books written by many a great mind of the past and present, I think it is only fair for me to chip in my share of contribution, and do something to benefit the generations to come.
But some may question,

"Do you have what it take to write a book?"

This is a thought which has haunted me for quite some time. When you look around the million of books on display in the book shop, you will realize that not many authors of my age publish their own works.

The reason can be twofold. One being that at young age, he does not have the necessary track of record to justify his writing, and another being that he probably lacks the self-confidence to get the work done anyway.

While it is pretty tempting to postpone the writing till a much later age, such as after I have become a truly successful technopreneur, husband and father, I personally see tremendous value if I were to start one now.
The rationale is pretty simple: by the time I reach that 'truly successful' age, I would most likely be sharing at different level, talking with different perspective from what I am having now. And if somebody were to trace my secret of success at that time, he probably would not have much clue on what a person I was like at the age of mid 20s (unless he is willing to read through my piles of emails which I take pain to back up for future reference).

To save him the unnecessary burden, and to benefit my fellow juniors and peers, I would like to take up the initiative to pen down my thoughts and view points on certain issues in life. While it might not be a fool-proof sharing, I am pretty sure that it is going to be thought provoking.

I hope my personal experience in learning to be a better person can serve as a mirror to my fellow readers who is on the same path to achieving success, and probably a source of inspiration for those who still have some ground to catch up.

At a particular space-time, we might not be starting at the same point of the journey. But there is one thing in common, that eventually, we are all heading towards the same destination.
