We use injection molded components and ultrasonic welding to put together its filters.   No glues or solvents are used in the construction of the filters as they can contaminate the carbon bed.  The carbon bed is packed tight and kept under spring pressure.  The carbon does not rattle around in our filters.  This assures that the water will touch the carbon as it passes through the filter and will not create channels through the carbon bed.
