as a TEACHER of the Transcendental Meditation programme, under the
auspices of THE SPIRITUAL REGENERATION MOVEMENT FOUNDATION OF SINGAPORE, a
registered, non-profit, educational organisation. Transcendental
Meditation© (TM) is the world’s most powerful,
scientifically-validated programme for promoting holistic personal growth,
organisational excellence, and community development.
Over 600 scientific studies conducted at more than 200 leading
universities in over 30 countries demonstrate that TM practice brings significant,
cumulative benefits to mind (unfolding full mental potential), body
(promoting better physical health), behaviour (improving social
relationships and work performance) and environment (creating world
peace). Since 1970, research findings on the benefits of TM have been

1997 (JUN.) TO 1997 (SEPT.) -- Worked at the AEC - OPEN LEARNING GROUP OF COLLEGES (AEC-OL), a major provider of educational programmes from Certificate to Ph.D. level, located at 8 Queen Street, Singapore 188535. Was initially engaged as COURSE COORDINATOR at BRIGHTON COMMERCIAL TRAINING CENTRE PTE LTD, where my duties included administration and marketing of Certificate and Diploma programmes of the Institute of Technical Education (Singapore) and of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (U.K.). In July 1997, I received a promotional transfer to the position of PROGRAMME EXECUTIVE at OPEN LEARNING RESOURCES (ASIA) PTE LTD, within the same (AEC-OL) corporate group. Here, I handled administration and marketing for the distance-learning MBA and Ph.D. programmes of the MAASTRICHT SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT, a leading European, postgraduate business school located in the Netherlands. In both AEC-OL positions, I attended to: programme enquiries; advertising and publicity; telemarketing; processing of applications; collection of fees; student relations; exam invigilation; and scheduling of subjects, lecturers and classrooms; amongst other duties.
1995 (JAN.) TO 1997 (APR.) -- Served as the WELFARE OFFICER CUM COORDINATOR at the SREE NARAYANA MISSION (SNM), 12 Yishun Avenue 5, Singapore 768992. SNM is a prominent Voluntary Welfare Organization affiliated to the National Council of Social Service. I was responsible for administering / organising the diverse Welfare Programmes of the Mission, including: a Food Relief Programme -- serving about 120 needy families, monthly; a Bursary Scheme -- providing annual educational assistance to scores of Primary and Secondary school students from underprivileged backgrounds; a Meals Service -- catering to about 100 needy individuals each month; Financial Assistance -- rendering emergency / short-term financial aid to deserving cases; Referral Services -- referring clients to the appropriate social service agencies; and the SNM Home for the Aged Sick -- assisting in the management of a model, 224-bed capacity, nursing home for sick and destitute elderly. Was also directly responsible for Annual Fund-raising for the Mission, and for the publication of its Annual Report and its Annual Souvenir Magazine. Independently handled all case investigations, interviews, reviews, correspondence and reports for existing welfare programmes, and the preparation of comprehensive Project Proposals for new welfare programmes. Laid the groundwork for the strengthening of existing welfare programmes and for the creation of new welfare activities (such as a Daily Meals Service, a Day Activity Centre for the Elderly, Low-cost Tuition, Counselling & Befriending Services, etc.), all to consolidate and augment SNMs well-earned reputation for community involvement and social welfare work.
1992 (JAN.) TO 1994 (DEC.) -- Was engaged as an ADMINISTRATIVE EXECUTIVE at KOMALAM & CO., a private legal practice in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Assisted in preparation, editing and translation of legal documents, office computerisation, client service, and other general administrative duties.
1988 (OCT.) TO 1989 (APR.) -- Worked as a RESEARCH EXECUTIVE at DYNAMIC SEARCH SDN. BHD., Malaysias leading Qualitative (Marketing) Research Consultancy, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. Gained useful exposure to consumer psychology, to the focus group discussion method of Qualitative Research, as well as to the marketing and advertising activities of a broad, largely multinational, client base.
1981 (DEC.) TO 1982 (FEB.) -- Was employed as a DEALERS REPRESENTATIVE at ASSOCIATED COMMODITIES SDN. BHD., Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia.
1975 (JAN. TO MAR.) -- Worked as a LABORATORY ASSISTANT at the Kulim Palm Oil Factory, KULIM (M) BHD., Ulu Tiram, Johor, Malaysia.
