Hyderabad again .....

I have come back to Hyderabad (November 2008). My second trip here. This time, I am more prepared for the change and environment. I had enjoyed my first trip, and I certainly intend to enjoy this one .....

There are two aspects to Hyderabad.

1. The local environment
2. The expat environment.

It is different.

The whole idea of having a blog started with a Mauritian "tai-tai" staying right here in Hyderabad. The inspiration came from the rest of the photo's I have taken of the fun things that one can do in Hyderabad - with the good company and like minded people.

The following great food is available in the vicinity of the Banjara Hills Police Post :

1. Prawn noodles (10th December 2008) - the prawns were great, retaining its bite and crunch. The soup itself had been boiled for "six hours" to get its full flavour. Deep dried onions are mandatory.
2. Chicken rice (11th December 2008) - this dish was perfect by local standards. For novice cooks, it comes with optional cooking lessons ie. the use of pandan leaves and frying of the rice before cooking. As with most restaurants here, notice should be given at least half an hour before the reservation period to allow the chef to personalize the food ie. not too spicy. Lessons of course require a nominal fee. Local taxes are additional.

When it comes to having things like Japanese food (12th December 2008) in Hyderabad - add a touch of humor and fun.

To experience Singaporean expat life, one must know - Mahjong.
It is a set of tiles that travel through college into adulthood. It is also a great way to learn rudimentary Mandarin. Three teachers and a "padwan". She made 10 rupees from Master Yoda; humbly attributed to beginners luck.

"The force is strong in this one ....".

Just to re-iterate the first lesson :
1. Chi (in sequence) only from the player on your left.
2. Pung (three of a kind) from any player
3. Tung, Nam, Xi, Pei (The Winds - East, South, West, North).
4. Hung Chong, Pak Pan, Fhat Chai (excuse the spelling).
5. Flowers and animals.

Doubles - 2,4,8,16,32
Limit - 16, 32.

I will have joyful memories of Hyderabad. It is great when the Internet works.
