Product Description:
In our commitment to provide advanced technology to the science of beauty, we are proud to introduce our antimicrobial powder for cosmetic preservation. DuPont antimicrobial powder utilizes a unique core-shell structure, in which a core particle is coated with a proprietary anti-microbial coating to prevent the growth of micro organisms. The powder is effective in Personal Care Products where antimicrobial activity and ease of formulation are desired. It provides a low order of toxicity with ease of dispersion and excellent thermal stability.
The core particle, made of zinc oxide not only serves to efficiently increase the surface area of the active coating ingredient so that the overall loading of the material is reduced, but itself acts as an antifungal. The lower loading reduces the cost as well as the impact on color and opacity.
The protective coating serves to control the rate of release of the active ingredients providing the proper level of antimicrobial activity and long-term effectiveness. A proprietary dispersion aid is also provided to facilitate dispersion of the powder in organic and aqueous systems.
