What is Line Dance?
More and more Singaporean are learning Line Dance which is fun and healthy.
It is an activity for people of all ages. But what is Line Dance ??
- Country Western Line Dance is dancing by both men and women standing in
regular patterns of straight lines, all facing the same direction.
- The same steps are executed by everyone at the same time, with turns
included so that during of dancing,
- you may face all the 4 walls (4-wall dance) or the two end walls (2-wall
dance).
- Modern, Country & Western music and various tempos are used e.g. waltz, cha
cha, rock, disco, mambo, samba and others.
- The largest factor in line dancing's popularity is the social, relax, fun and
recreational
aspect, and most of the dance are suitable for any peoples of all ages group.
- The speed varies too, and for some of the more energetic dances, a good
aerobics workout can be achieved, so LET'S DANCE & KEEP FIT.
- Line dancing allows the individual to get on the dance floor without a dance
partner - the whole group is your partner!
- All you need is a pair of shoes with slippery soles (for executing those
tricky
steps) and low heels to help you keep your balance on the turns and to enjoy
yourself.
- Country Western Line Dance consist of the following :
a) Country Line Dance - Follow country music
b) Latin Line Dance - Follow Latin, Cha-Cha, Rumba,
Samba, Pasodoble and Jive
c) American Line Dance - Consist of a combination of Country Line Dance,
Latin Line Dance and Social Dance steps of Disco Rock,
Rock & Roll, Mambo, Waltz and Tango.
- Line-dancing now has truly taken Singapore by storm and all over the country,
in community centres,
private clubs and churches, in shopping malls, condominums, HDB estates and
RCs,
